The reason for the Thames Valley Electric Power Board cutting off the power in the borough for a few hours on Sunday was for the purpose of carrying out necessary alterations. A new transformer has beeni erected on the Esplanade at the intersection with Wharf Street, and this was connected up on Sunday. The; provision of the additional transformer was necessary to ineot the increased demand for power, and will also be the means of giving a more assured supply of electricity to existing consumers,
