DISTRICT NEWS.
PATETONGA. TENNIS CLUB. The Patetonga Tennis Club held its annual meeting in the Public Hall on Tuesday evening last week, Mr J- N. Paterson presiding over twenty members. The annual report showed a very good season, although: no competitions had been won by the teams. Miss Duffy had won the ladies’ single and doubles championships of t,he Plains. During the seasom a handicap singles tournament was Ineld, the winners being Miss Duffy anid M. O’Connor, respectively; also a combined handicap tournament at Easter, the winners being Mrs Taiylor-and T. Dufty.
The balance-sheet showed a debit of £2O. This was considered very good, considering the expenditure of erecting a pavilion at. a cost of over £lOO for building material .alone. Officers appointed for the season were as follows : President, Mr J. N. Patterson; vice-president, Mr R. McCullough ; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Robertson; committee, Mesdames L. Hunter, B. Duffy, W. Thompson, T. Hunter, Messrs W. Pulman, G. Garry, Harris, D. Pike, E. Pulman ; club captain, Mr D. Pike ; delegate to Association, Mr D. Pike. October 22 was fixed as the opening
day. The delegate, was instructed’ to vote against the- knock-out system..
A vote of appreciation was- ‘.accorded to Mr R. McCullough for services rendered as secretary during tile past three years.
