WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company report:— “Beef. —Plenty of both prime ox and cow beef continue to come forward, and prices have eased somewhat during the last week. Prime ox made equal to 31s per lOOlbs., and prime cow and heifer 28s. It looks as if wehave now seen the top prices this Spring. “Fat Sheep.—Plenty of fat sheep have been offering, with the market firm, but as soon as the shorn sheep come on the market, we will most likely see a decline in prices-. No Spring lambs have been yarded yet.
Store Cattle.—Grown steers, 2 and 3-year steers good empty cows, are in demand. There is also a keen inquiry for yeailing Jersey heifers, which are meeting with strong competition in the markets.
“Dairy Cattle.—There- is still a strong demand for good dairy cows and choice springing heifers. “Pigs.—There has been no improvement in the price of .‘fats. but stores are selling readily at, good prices. “Horses.—Our anmial Cambridge spring fair was held this month, and we report a successful sale. Heavy horses were not in demand, but medium active draughts and spring cart sorts met with good competition. Bullocks, prime extra heavy £l2 5s to £l3 ss, medium £lO 10s to £ll 5d ; cows, prime £8 to £9 ss. medium £6 to £6 15s. unfinished £3 16s to £4 10s ; heifers, prime £9 to £9 10s ; steers, 4-year forward £7 to £7 10s, 3-year store-s £6 5s to £6 10s, good 2-ye-ar £4 15s to £5 ss, yearling £3 10s to £3 15s ; extra choice 2-year Jersey in-calf heifers £lO 10s to £l2 good 18-months £9 to £lO ; g»ood yearling Jersey and Jersey-cross heifers £5 to £7 ; good fresh empty, cows £3 10s to £4 10si; aged store cows 20s to £3.
Sheep : Wethers, prime heavy 37s to £2, medium 35s to 36s ; ewes, prime 29s to 325:; store wethers, 4'-tooth 27s to 295, 2-tooth 24s 6d to 25s 6d ; breeding ewes. 4,6, and 8-tooth 30s to 335, '5-years 27s 6d to 30s, aged- 21. s to 22a 6d, 2-tooth 28s to 30 s; 4-tooth and 6tooth 31s to 32s 6d ; prime shorn hoggets, fat 225; prime fat hoggets, woolly 24s 6d to 27s ; fat hoggets 21s 6d to 22s 6d ; best woolly ewe '.hoggets 26s to 295, store 22s to 245, s mall 14s to 17s.
Pigs : Baconers, prime £3 8s to £3 10s, medium £3 to £3 3s ; porkers £2 10s- to £2 15s ; slips 27s to 32s 6 d 1 we-aners 15s to 20s.
