The danger which lies in the; practice of schoolboys carrying pens and pencils in their stocking tops was indicated one day last week when Pat Marchant, the 14-year-old son of Mr E. A. Marchant, of Carlton Avenue, Wanganui, met with an accident while joining in a friendly rough-and-tumble in the Technical College grounds. The pen was forced into the flesh of his leg for a distance of about three inches, and when, extracted it was found that the two points of the nib remained in the wound. The lad was taken to the hospital and the metal was located by means of X-ray photographs>.
