Redress and compensation for alleged unlawful committal to and detention in a mental hospital are claimed in a petition presented again to Parliament on Tuesday on behalf of a returned soldier, Alfred Robert Daniel Box, of Port Chalmers. Petitioner claims that he was never insane ; that he was brought before a stipendiary magistrate; and that he was unlawfully committed and detained at the Seacliff Mental Hospital whether he was insane or not.
