NETHERTON DRAINAGE.
MEETING OF REPRESENTATIVES.
DECISION TO FORM BOARD. ■A conference of representatives of the various areas about. Netherton interested. in the formation of a drainage district was held.yesterday in the Netherton Hall. The areas south of the Awaiti flaxmill were not' represented, as the settlers had made their own arrangements with the Public Works Department. After a full and frank discussion the decision to go ahead with the formation of a. drainage board was affirmed.
An amendment to the effect that the lands in the area be classified in a manner t,o have thq effect of giving the lands equality in valuation was Passed. This amendment was not favoured by the chairman of Drain H area committee, nor by two of the members who had left the meeting prior to the amendment being voted oh.
Practically all the settlers of the Drain H area have signed the agreement with the Public Works, Department in respect of drainage works, and the document wilLbe handed in shortly.
