PAEROA DOMAIN.
MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD.
RENTAL OF CROQUET LAWNS.
A sitting of the Paeroa Domain Board was held at the conclusion of the Borough Council meeting on Thursday night, the chairman (Mr W. Marshall) presiding over Messs EL Edwards, F. E. Flatt, E. A. Porritt, H. J. Hare, J. W. Silcock, J. Pinder, W. Turner, and W. C. Alexander (secretary. A letter was received from the Paeroa Ladies’ Croquet Club inquiring when the lawns would be ready for play, and also the amount of rental for the coming season. The chairman said that rental charged the club last season was £25.
On the motion of Mr Silcock it was decided to reply that the rental for the 1927-28 season .Would again be £25, and that the question as to when the lawns would be available for play be left in the hands of the domain committee and superintendent. In seconding the resolution Mr Flatt gave it as his opinion that the club had had a bad run I'ast year, but he hoped a really good season would be enjoyed this year.
In answer to Mr Turner the chairman said that the club did not have the sole right to the lawn. It was given, exclusive right on certain days each week, however.
Mr Edwards mentioned that the club had always been agreeable to forego any right it might havei in order to help other institutional,, and instanced the assistance given the local A. and P. Association on show days.
