COLLISION WITH CAR.
PAEROA CYCLIST HURT.
SERIOUS INJURIES SUSTAINED. While, returning on a motor-cycle to Paeroa shortly after 5 o’clock on Friday evening from work a young man named Hui Bennett, a son of Mrs E. Bennett, Junction Street, Pacroa, collided with a motor-car driven by Mr H. J. Harris sharemilker for Mr W. H. Alley, Hikutain. The accident occurred on the Pae-roa-Thames road at a sharp bend known as Vowles’ corner. Mr Bennett, who was employed with his brother by the Public Works Department on a stop-bank contract at Hikutaia, was thrown off his, cycle and severely hurt, his injuries including a fracture of the right thigh, fracture of right col-lar-bone. and fracture of right arm, in addition to head injuries.
Medical aid was summoned from Paeroa, and Dr. G. T. Smith was quickly on the scene, and after attending the injured man ordered his removal to the Thames; Hospital. On inquiries being made this morning it was; learned that Mr Bennett wag as comfortable as possible, but that his condition was regarded as serious.
Two tyres on the car Were punctured and one mudguard was crumpled up. Extensive damage was done to the motor-cycle.
