PAEROA DENTAL CLINIC.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. APPLICATIONS FOR TREATMENT. The financing of the erection of the Paeroa dental clinic has been of rather serious concern to the school committee. Realising that with the grant of £l6O received from the Education Board, plus donations, was insufficient to meet the cost, the committee applied to the board for a further grant of £2O. At a. meeting of the committee on Saturday night last advice was received from the board that in connection with the clinic recently erected at Cambridge the department hqd limited its grant to £l6O. Under the circumstances the committee would realise that no success could attend an application for an additional grant. TRAVELLERS’ CONCERT.

Advice was received from the Auckland Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association that it would be willing to provide a concert at Paeroq in aid of the clinic funds towards the end of September. Mr J. H. McDonald reported thei arrangements that had been made to date in connection with the concert.

It was resolved that the names of Messrs P. Williams qnd Gi H. Taylor be added to the sub-committee to assist in furthering arrangements. TREATMENT FOR CHILDREN.

A'letter was received from the Karangahake School Committee inquiring if children from that school would be eligible to receive treatment. It was decided to reply that primer children would be eligible, but the order in which schools were ,to be treated after Paeroa was Netherton, Tirohia, and Karangahake in the meantime. So far as, could be judged, Miss Ellis would not be free to visit outside schools until about the beginning of November. An application was received from the Puriri school for treatment for a child.

It was resolved that as the case was apparently a deserving, one, the committee offered no objection to treatment being given so long as the child was in the primer classes and was brought to the clinic at no'expense to the committee. ' THANKS TO HELPERS.

The chairman (Mr W. T. Power) referred to the success which had attended the committee’s efforts on the day of the opening of the clinic. He expressed ihis tha.nks to his colleagues for the splendid help and willing cooperation accorded him. It was decided to thank publicly all who had assisted either on the opening day or during th© erection of the clinic.
