PARKING OF CARS.
VEHICLES TO BE LIGHTED. BOROUGH COUNCIL DISCUSSION., The question of parking and sufficiently lighting motor vehicles was discussed at last night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council The matter was introduced by the receipt of a letter from the constable in charge, Paeroa, acknowledging receipt of a letter with reference to tihe parking of motor-cars in front of or near the fire station. The writer stated that he would be pleased to cooperate with, the council and members of the brigade in having the practice eliminated.
The Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) stiid that it might be necessary to post notices showing the areas prohibited for parking cars. The matter pf parking cars at night without being sufficiently lighted was also discussed.
The Mayor stiid that the council’s by-laws did not cover the position fully, and hie thought a sub-commit-tee should be set up to co-operate with the police and bring down a report. It was desirable to assist the police in every way possible. In his opinion the council had been too lax in the past with reference to motor regulations-. It was time the councillors dived into the matter and placed it on a better footing.
After a brief discussion it was resolved that the legal and finance committee go into the< who]® question and bring down a report for the next meeting. The Mayor also drew attention to the fact that cyclists were required to affix red reflectors) on th® rear of their machines. The local police intended to fenforce the regulations in the borough, and it was the duty of th.e council to co-operate.
