SHABEBROKEBS’ cup match. EASY WIN FOR PLAINS JUNIORS. In the junior representative match at Ngatea on Saturday the Hauraki Plains team had no difficulty in winning from Paeroa, and as the score s mounted up many people lost count, so there is now an argument as to whether Plains scored 20 or >23 noints. The game appeared even to onlooker, but really the home fifteen were masters of the situation nearly all the time, and did pot unduly exert themselves. The visitors were much below their usual strength. The weather was fine b.ut .the field was wet and the ball was; difficult to handle or kick with accuracy. On. the whole the game was disappointing, and not up the usual standard of junior representative form. The teams were as follows :— Paeroa.—L. Sinnett, R. Williams, J. C.onolly, L. Sowerby, S. Liggins, F. Barakat, R. Mead, M. Fulton, N. Neil, A. Flatt, W. Pennell, L. Carrick, C. Snow, Gt, Helling, H. Mayo. Hauraki Plains.—A. Killgour, T. Ryan, E. Cox, C. Young, J. McPherson, <• F. Olsen, F.’ Franks, R. Phillips, L. Wilson, L. Zeiglar, H. Kirkman, A. Fisher* C. Blacklaws, Schofield, E. Braizendale. Plains kicked off and followed up with a strong forward attack until the visitors forced. Line play and free kicks took play .to the home team’s Quarter, where fast open play Paeroa having a slight ad- ■ vantage and scoring with a splendid penalty kick by Williams. Paeroa 3, Plains 0. The Plains forwards worked to the other end of .the field, where Blacklaws failed with a shot at goal. The h.ome team then had to defend for tihe remainder of the quarter, and one force was registered. The second round opened with a forward attack by Plains and a free kick by Kirkman was a poster. Schofield, the new addition to the team, scored as h result of good following up and Kirkman converted. Plains 5, Paeroa 3. A passing rush by Plains reached the line, but the ball went out in touch. After another attack Plains failed with a penalty kick. Paeroa endeavoured to keep the ball among the forwards, but the Plains pack was the better of the two and play was in the visitors’ territory throughout the quarter, there being several forces and a score by Blacklaws which was not converted. Plains 8, Paeroa 3. The second half opened with a Paeroa attack, and fumbling by the defjending full-back on two occasions necessitated a force. Paeroa failed to score with three penalty kicks at goal. The Plains forwards then took command and confined play in the visitors’ end until Olsen scored. Plains 11, Paeroa 3. Mayo made a good attempt at goal from halfway, and Paeroa followed up and held Plains on the defensive, but again failed to score with an easy penalty kick. A force by the home team terminated the quarter. A*- A succession of long kicks terminated with Plains on the defensive, but .the forwards took possession and Franks followed up a long kick to score. Plains 14, Paero.a 3. Phillips -also scored after more forward play :in the visitors’ end. Plains 17, Paeroa 3. Following a lot of hard play Jn midfield Kirkman broke through ■■ and .scored against one of the posts* Gbut like five of the previous tries it ''-Was not converted, the game ending with the scores Plains 20, Paeroa 3. Mr G. T. Davidson was referee.
