As the result of representations made on Saturday afternoon by the Thames Jubilee Committee the Ngatea School Committee agreed that today should be a school holiday to enable the children to visit Thames for the jubilee celebrations. “Whatever be the cause, we are up against the fact that, on the surface at least, the Briton compares badly with the Continental in respect of good manners (says the Rev. Dr. J. R. Fleming in a Home paper). “There is a certain Continental standard of good manners of which we all become aware when we cross the Channel. We associate it more with France than with any other country, but it js by no means confined to France. Indeed, 1 doubt if it is to be found at its best in France ; I think it is higher in such countries as Sweden and Hungary—but it is always there on the Continent in greater or less- degree, and it affects us sometimes painfully, sometimes agreeably.” WESTPORT MOTHER’S DECISION. A wise mother of AVestport who hud been subject to colds found that Pulmonas cured her on several occasions. She was so delighted with Pulmonas that she decided she would never be without them. Keep Pulmonas- by you and take them at the first signs of cough br cold. At chemists and stores 1/6 and 2/6. -1 * He who hesitates is lost. Breast right up and do it! Find at first your path in life, Then with joy pursue it I Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure is; good, Take it when you need it. Coughs and colds it kills at once ; i Take advice and heed it! |
