ALLEGED THEFT.

CHARGE AGAINST EX-STOREMAN.

ACCUSED REMANDED FOR A WEEK

The case of William Neailie, exstoreman, Public Works Department at the Puke, in which theft of public money is- alleged, was brought before Mr B. Gwiiliam, J.P., at the Paeroa Police Court yesterday.

In making application for a further remand to August 4 Constable McClinchy stated that instructions received from Wellington necessitated an exhaustive inquiry being made, and the police at that juncture were not prepared to go on with the case. Mr E. A. Porritt, who appeared for Nealie, raised no objection to the remand. which was granted by the Bench. Bail was allowed as before, accused in himself for £lOO and one surety of £l5O.
