A daring theft is reported to have occurred at the botttle department of the Excelsior Hotel at Dunedin »—recently. ’ About 4 o’clock in the afternoon a man tendered a £1 note in payment for a bottle of whisky, and as the barman was getting change from the cash register the purchaser, asked to have the cork drawn. Th<y barman left the till and began to comply with the request, but as ’he was bending to draw the cork, the stranger leaned ’over and, grabbing a handful of notes from the till, made- a hasty exit. So far nothing has been heard of him. The licensee of the hotel (Mr W. ; Quirke) estimated his loss at between C £l5 and £2O. Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. For Influenza Golds.
