In a letter read at last night’s meeting of C*e Paeroa Borough Council Mr A. M, Samuel, M.P., acknowledged the complimentary resolution passed by the council at the previous meeting f regarding the assistance he had given the Mf)yor and Cr. Flatt while they were in Wellington over the loan proposals. On the constitution of the Hauraki United Drainage District a classification of land for rating purposes became necessary, and Mr W. E. G. Willy was appointed classifier. It is understood that there are over forty objections to the classification made, and that the great majority are from the area recently administered by the Hauraki Drainage Board. As classifier for the Horahia Draina.ge Board Mr Willy classified practically all the district as A class, and was commended by the Horahia Board for his action. In the old Hauraki district, classified some, years ago, some farms were classified A, B, C, and D, according to the distance of the particular area from an outlet drain. The objections will be heard at a sitting of an Assessment Court at Thames on . -July 21. In reply to a question at yesterday’s . ’meeting of the Haura.ki Plains County Council it was stated that service ‘cars had no preference whatever on the Pipiroa ferry.
