The work had been authorised, and a local plumber had been instructed to proceed with the repairs. With reference to the califont, the board had advised that where water-heating arrangements were in existence in school houses it was not its policy to defray the full cost for electric heating. The board was prepared, however, to grant a sum of £lO towards the cost of an electric califont provided the headmaster was prepared to contribute the balance of the cost. The headmaster explained that the machines had been purchased for the use of high school pupils in 1920. The money 'had been raised locally by voluntary contributions, and the machines were not purchased for the use of manual school pupils. It was resolved that for the purpose of. meeting the supervisor when he visited Paeroa an emergency meeting be held and the matter thoroughly discussed. PROPOSED CONCERT. A letter was received from the Auckland Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen's Association in reply to the appeal that the association should hold a grand concert at Paeroa, the proceeds of which would be devoted to the dental clinic fund. A letter was recevied from the Director of Dental Hygiene, Wellington, advising that the necessary equipment would be forwarded to Paeroa as soon as the building was completed. The headmaster and secretary reported the result of the visit of the inspector of school dental clinics (Mr Elliott), and said that every satisfaction had been expressed in connection with the Paeroa clinic, which, it was stated, fully met the requirements of tiie department.

A report was tabled showing that demands for payment to date totalled £125 7s 7d, and the money in hand and promised was £ll6 17s Id, leaving a deficiency of £8 10s 6d, plus the cost of a table, chairs, and couch. It was resolved to pay such accounts as there was money to meet in the meantime, and that the chairman and secretary confer with the dental nurse (Miss L. Ellis) with reference to the purchase of furnishings. The sum of £5 Ils collected by Mr Pascoe was received,, and Mr Pascoe was thanked for his efforts. A sub-committee- was set up to arrange for the official opening of the clinic.
