ACCIDENT TO CHILD.
KICK FROM A HORSE.
BROKEN ARM SUSTAINED.
A painful accident befel Jn,ck Hale, a five-year-old son of Mr T. 11. Hale, Prospect Terrace, Paeroa, yesterday afternoon, when a broken rjght forearm and internal injuries were sustained.
It appears that the little chap, in company with his brother, was returning along Albert St. from school, and noticing a horse grazing in a vacant section he slipped throug.i the fence and went up to the animal with the intention of patting it. The horse did not know the and it turned round and lashed out, striking the boy a glancing blow with its hoof.
The cries of the injured lad attracted the attention of Mr M. Beattie, who rushed to his assistance and later drove him to his home. Medical aid was summoned, and it was found on examination that the injuries mentioned had been sustained. After treatment the patient was taken to the Thames Hospital., The elder brother who witnessed the accident stated that the injured boy thought the horse belonged to his father, which wfls used to children, but a mistake had been made, as the horse was the property of another resident.
