PAEROA RUGBY UNION.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE, ROUTINE BUSINESS. The weekly meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union Committee was held at Mr Bain’s rooms on Monday night, thechairman (Mr C. T. Mettam) presiding over Messrs E. P. Fathers, T. Royal, H. M. Shand, C. H. Potter, J. Pinder, and R. Hodson (secretary). CHARITY SATURDAY. A letter was received from the Piako Union giving details of the reresult of Charity Saturday last season, on which day the Sprague Shield was competed for. A balance-sheet was also forwarded showing that Paeroa’s share of the proceeds was £4 2s. The disposal of the money was left in the hands of the- chairman and secretary. An item for insurance shown in the balance-sheet was queried by Mr Pinder, and at his suggestion it was decided to write and ask for further particulars. MANAGERS AND REFEREES. It was resolved that Mr Shand be appointed manager of the Paeroa representative team to play Hauraki Plains at Ngatea on Saturday next. On the motion of Mr Hodson Mr Fathers was appointed manager of the junior team to play Hauraki Plains at Paeroa. Mr A. W. Dunstan (Waihi) was accepted as referee for the senior match, and Mr P. E. Brenan for the junior match at Paeroa. ARRANGEMENTS FOR TEAMS. To meet the wishes of the Hauraki Plains Union it was decided that the •match at Ngatea commence at 2.30 p.m. It was resolved to entertain the visiting junior team to dinner at the Commercial Hotel. With reference to the trip to Nga-te-a, it was decided that the senior team should assemble at the post office at I'o’clock, and that one car would proceed via Hikutaia for the purpose, of picking up the Suburbs players. The tender o.f -Messrs W. Fleming and Son was accepted for the supply of cars. DRYSDALE CUP. It was decided that the Drysdale Cup be competed for in a knock-out round, in place of the banner which had previously been the- winners to hold the cup folßnie year. The date of closing nominations for the competition was fixed as July 11. GENERAL. Accounts amounting to 10s, 9d were passed for payment. ,It was decided to ascertain from the Netherton and Suburbs clubs if they intended to carry on with the junior competition. On the motion of Mr Potter it was decided to postpone the next committee- meeting until Tuesday, July 4.
