SUPERANNUATION FUNDS

PAYMENTS TO OFFICERS’ WIDOWS APPROVAL OF GOVERNMENT. At the annual meeting of the Public Service- Association at Wellington the Hon. R. A. Wright said that the Government had approved the payment of the monetary equivalent of leave to widows and near relatives of officers dying while in service. This means that if an officer dies while a member of the service his widow or dependent children may be paid an amount equivalent to that which would have been payable to the officer in terms of the regulations in the event of his retirement. The Government had approved the recommendation of the Public Service commissioner that provision be made for the training of administrative officers by giving a selected number an opportunity of taking up university courses on lines similar to the training at present afforded prof sbional and technical officers. A committte had been appointed for the purpose of reviewing the relations of the various superannuation funds, correcting anomalies and inconsistencies.
