A recommendation to the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union that it approve of all playing fields used for inter-club matches has been made by the Ngateq Club as the resjilt of its experiences on recent Saturdays. The matter of keeping all the floodgates in the Hauraki drainage district free of rubbish at all times -was considered by the Drainage Boa.rd at its meeting last week; and it was agreed that members should endeavour to make arrangements with farmers living near the gates to undertake the service. A scale of charges ranging up to £1 a year was decided upon. The Hauraki United Drainage Board has decided to take firm action in regard to the fencing of its outlet drains. At the mnothly meeting last week strongly worded notices were ordered to be sent to several landowners, and the foreman was instructed to inspect till drains and report on the condition of the fences. The Hauraki United Drainage Board at its last meeting decided to have the broken flood-gates at the Pekapeka and Horahia road drain’s replaced with wooden flood-gates and to have a gate installed on the, Orchard East Road north-side drain.
