THE HAURAKI, PLAINS GROUPS.

FIGURES FOR APRIL,

The following figures concerning the April averages of the cows in the six Hauraki Plains groups tested by the N.Z. Co-operative Herd-testing Association have been received from the head office of the association : In the 53 groups tested by the association there were 52,180 cows, and for the full 30 days in April the average production was 4711 b of milk with,a 4.6 test, giving 22.261 b of fat.

The Netherton group, comprising 057 cows, gave an average of 4901 b of milk, 4.6 test, and 22.561 b of fat' for the month. The highest herd, with 34 cows, gave an average of 28.581 b of fat, the highest cow 64.681 b, the lowest herd 16.571 b, and the lowest cow 2.94'1b.

The Ngatea group of 521 cows had an average of 4821 b of milk, 4.2 test, and 20.671 b of fat for the month. The highest herd gave an average of 29.101 b of fat, the lowest herd 17.071 b, the highest cow 50.401 b, and the lowest cow 3.031 b.

The Patetonga group, of 1260 1 cows, had the highest average test with 4.7, although the 4421 b of milk was the lowest average in the six Plains groups. The average fat production for the group was 21.021 b, the highest herd averaged 29.431b.fat, the highest cow 48.281 b, the lowest herd 13.531 b, and the lowest cow I.Bolb fat.

The Shelly Beach group, of 1045 cows, had the highest fat production average of the Plains groups with 24.251 b. The .average milk return was 5351 b, and the average test 4.5 The highest herd gave 29.681 b fat and the highest cow 50.4<61b, while the lowest herd averaged 16.751 b and the lowest cow 3.601 b fat.

The Turua group, of 746 cows, had an average of 4921 b milk, 4.5 test, find 22.531 b fat. The highest herd had an average of 31.191 b fat, the lowest herd 16.561 b, the highest cow 53.761 b, and the lowest cow 2.271 b. The ’ Waitakaruru group, of 538 cows, had an average of 5871 b milk, a 4.5 test, find an average of 21.461 b of htltter-fat. The highest herd averaged 29.481 b fat, the lowest 16.401 b. the highest cow 103.501 b, and the lowest cow 5.531 b.
