HOCKEY.
At Waihi on Saturday la-t the Waitakaruru ladies hockey team defeated the Waihi representative team by three goals to nil in a friendly match. If this performance by a Hauraki Plains club team is an indication of the standard of play, the prospects for the Plains representatives at the Country Week tournament in Auckland next month are bright.
