MORE PROSECUTIONS TO FOLLOW.

At Thursday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council the inspector, Mr R. H. Cameron, reported for the -month of May that he had issued two heavy traffic licenses, one taxi license, two goods truck licenses, 17 driver’s licenses, and one building permit, besides collecting £2O in dog tax.

Sixteen convictions had been obtained against motorists for exceeding the speed limit, and another ten -motorists would appear at the next sitting of the Court. The magistrate had commented on the satisfactory methods employed in checking the speed. On June 3 a speed trap was set near Waitakaruru, and of the twelve cars timed four were found to be exceeding the speed limit. The- four names submitted were well-known service-car drivers or garage men, and the council decided to have them prosecuted, as usual.
