DISTRICT NEWS.

KEREPEEHI. FAREWELL SOCIAL. The people of Kerepeehi bade farewell to Mr and Mrs B. Frecklington, who are returning to their farm in the Manawatu this month, at a. dance and progressive euchre tournament organised by the Kerepeehi Tennis Club, and held in the Kerepeehi Hall last Thursday.

There was a representative gathering of Kerepeehi people, and a fair number of tennis players from all parts of the Plains, for Mr Frecklington has been president of the Hauraki Plains Tennis Association for the past three seasons.

After supper Mr J. H. Nicholson, of the Kerepeehi Tennis Club, spoke of the popularity of Mr and Mrs Frecklington, and voiced the regret of the people- of the district at their departure. Mr. A. R. Vowles, secretary of the Tennis Association, told of the good work Mr Frecklington as an executive, and as a club delegate, and mentioned that only those who had been closely connected with him were able to realise w’hat he had done. Kerepeehi had been particularly well served by its delegate, qnd it would be very ofrtunate if it got another representative as good. With the gift from his club mates, whicn he well deserved, went also the good wishes of all the tennis players on the Hauraki Plains. Mr Nicholson, on behalf of his club and other friends, of Mr and Mrs Frecklington, then presented them with a travelling rug and a leather suit case. Replying, Mr Frecklington said that w r hat he had done for the Kerepeehi club and for the Hauraki Plains Tennis Association was not more than any other "man would have done. He had started playing tennis at Kerepeehi, and was proud to consider himself the father of the club, having been its first president. He felt at his departure that he was leaving the whole of the Plains, for he and Mrs Frecklington had made many goods friends through tennis. He wished to thank them from the bottom of his heart, for their token of recognition of what he had done. He was sorry to leave so many good friends, but hoped to see them all in the near future.
