ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES.

OBJECTIONS OF PAEROA MEETING

SUPPORT BY PLAINS COUNTY.

The Hauraki Plains County Council at its meeting yesterday had before it a copy of the resolutions adopted at the recent conference in Paeroa concerning the proposed alteration in the electoral" boundaries and the suggested alteration in the name from "Thames” to “Hauraki.”

Members expressed agreement with the suggested alteration in tlie name, Cr. Harris said he did not see that the council was concerned with the inclusion or otherwise of Waiki’io and Karangahake. The chairman said that it would concern the county if it was agreed to extend the Mercer electorate to the Piako River, as had been suggested though not mentioned in the communication. iOn the motion of Cr. Mayn, seconded by Cr. Reid, the council gave its support to the change in name, Cr. Walton, urged that if the council supported the other request it should be on the condition that the boundary of the Mercer and Thames electorates was not shifted eastward.

This was supported by Cr. Reid, and it was decided that the clerk advise the Mayor of Paeroa that the Plains County Council did not object to the alteration on tlie condition mentioned by the chairman.
