GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. FRIDAY NIGHT. THE GALLANT FOOL. “ The Gallant Fool,” to be presented to-morrow night, is an entertaining story about a princess whose kingdom has run into debt to an American millionaire. As the millionaire’s son, Billy Sullivan goes over to collect. Meeting the prince, to whom the princess is to be wed for convenience, although she has never seen him, Billy discovers an old ehum from college. He and the prince exchange identities for a day and the fun commences.
SATURDAY NIGHT. THE LUNATIC AT LARGE. "The Lunatic at Large, to be screened on Saturday night, is a riot of fun from the opening shot, in which Errol, in the leading role, is seen as a tramp, to the final fade-out, in which, after a series of side-split-ting incidents find real thrills, he goes back to the road again to wander. RED HOT TIRES. “Red Hot Tires,” a Master Picture, starring Monte Blue, is also to be presented on Saturday evening. Gregory Roger’s amusing novel, upon which this picture is based, is one of the most amusing comedies ever screened. It has a charming hero, a pretty, impulsive heroine, three dangerously crooked kidnappers, and a story that is crammed with ribtickling smash-ups of hearts and traffic regulations. TURUA PICTURES. SATURDAY, JUNE 4. "Good and Naughty," screening at the Turua Hall on Saturday night, is a brilliant comedy in which Pola Negri takes the lending part witli Tom Moore as leading man. The theme is the story o>f a girl who masqueraded as the sweetheart of the man she loved in order to save him from the wiles of a married woman and from divorce scandal. TUESDAY, JUNE 7. “The Man on the Box,” showing on Tuesday, is a picture from the celebrated novel and stage play by Harold McGrath, and is an exceptional Master picture- Syd. Chapjin- in the leading part surpasses hs great laugh success “Charley’s Aunt” in this irresistibly ridiculous romance. HUMPHREY BISHOP COMPANY. RETURN VISIT. The Humphrey Bishop Musical Comedy Company is returning for a flying visit for one night only on Thursday, June 9. This will positively be the company’s farewell visit, as it is due to open a season in Sydney very shortly. The forthcoming programme will be entirely new| from the rise to the fall of curtain, and will include new song scenas, new comedy sketches bv “Scratcher” Ross, new rags by the famous Ragtime Quartette. When one considers that the company played a season of 18 weeks in Adelaide, where a weekly change of programme was imperative, it can easily be seen that to give - entire changes of programme is quite an easy matter. Arthur Homsley, the "Lancashire Comedian,” will make his first appearance with the company here-. The box plan is open, at Flatt’s, where early booking is recommended.
