WAIKATO WINTER SHOW

-INTERESTING EXHIBITS STAGED. WHAT VISITORS SHOULD SEE. The Waikato Winter Show at Hamilton continues to attract a large number of visitors from all parts of the district. In addition there are many visitors from other parts of the Dominion, and the unanimous opinion has been expressed that the 1927 exhibition is better and more interesting than ever. To-morrow, being a general holiday (King’s Birthday), it is safe to predict that a record attendance will obtain. A glance down these columns and leaders will find particulars of outstanding exhibits that will be of special interest.

RELIABLE SERVICE*

THE FIRM OF HARE BROS. An attractive exhibit of special interest to the farmers of this district is that of Messrs Hare Bros., general merchants, estate and ■ commission agents, and machinery experts. The stand, which is situated on the lefthand side of the main entrance displays the famous Alfa Laval separators, which are built np to a standard and not down to a price. The' Anderson oil and benzine engines are also attracting considerable attention. This enterprising firm, whose motto is “Promptitude, Civility, Service,” has also the Thames Valley agency for Gane milking machines, Booth-Mac-donald’s farm implements, milking machine accessories, and rubberwale, and all farm implements und requisites. The firm’s Auckland office, which is directed bv Mr L. M. Hare, specialises in land snd estate business, and in this direction the numerous property deals effected justify their claim that they have a complete and efficient department. A large deal in Mangere property was successfully negotiated on Tuesday last, marking one of the biggest transactions in that district. In addition to the land agency business, the firm builds houses to design and under the supervision of leading architects. Let the firm help you build your own home. A cordial invitation is issued to all to visit the stand, where both Mr H. J. Hare, of Paeroa, and Mr L. M. Hare, of Auckland, are in attendance and will be pleased to answer any inquiries and tender practical advice and assistance to settlers.

PYE’S PATENT PULLEY.

THE IDEAL FOR SEPARATORS. A mechanical appliance which every dairy farmer should make a point of seeing at the stand of Messrs D. McL. r Wallace, Ltd., in the Roots Section, “ at the Wintershow this year is Pye’s patent self-governing, shock-absorb-ing pulley, which can be attached to all makes of separators. Pye’s Pulley is superior to <]H others in efficiency, workmanship, and finish. Not only does it give good service, but it will last a lifetime with reasonable treatment. Pye’s Pulley has been subject•ed to severe tests by expert dairy engineers and dairymen, in complying with which they have shown remarkable distinctive features. The power submitted to the separator is selfgoverned, thus imparting a smooth and constant drive. Any shock or severe jerk is transmitted through a recoil spring wjiich, in turn, passes it on to a link that operates the action of the friction band. This combination makes it impossible for engine or motor to impart excessive power to the separator. The friction is obtained through one moving part only. It is the simplest and most effective friction known. To have your separator fitted with Pye’s pulley means utime saved, clean skimming, uniform test, and immunity ,from breakages, among the prominent advantages. It is important when ordering Pye’s Pulley to give the make, model, and capacity of the separator it is to be fitted to. Full particulars can be obtained from the firm’s Te Aroha branch.

RENOWN DEHORNER.

SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE.

FOR DEHORNING CATTLE. in the main annexe at the Show can be seen the Renown Dehorner a simple and effective instrument designed for dehorning any beast, irrespective of its age. The exhibit, which, is in charge of Mr S. Armstrong, who is demonstrating the ap ; pliance to many farmers, is proving of great interest to those concerned. The instrument is small and compact, and can be handled by a boy once the animal to be operated upon is tied fast. There are no complicated parts • —in fact, there is not one pqrt which can get out of order.. If necessary the machine can be taken apart and reassembled in the space of a few minutes. A fast screw which operates the cutting knife can be adjusted so that the smallest to the largest horns can be cut without any difficulty whatever. An advantage that this machine has over the ordinary lever dehorner is that it does not crush and shatter the horn. With the aid of the Renown a straight, steady, clean , cut is assured. .To dehorn young heifers it is onlj' necessary to shorten the controlling lever. In Conversation with the inventor Mt Armstrong, it was learned that practically every herd in the Waikato could lie dehorned with this small and inexpensive machine, the price being only £3 15s. Farmers interested should not fail to have the machine demonstrated to them. AH Inquiries, which receive strict attention, should be made to Mr R. Armstrong, whose address i~ Rural Delivery, Frankton.
