FASHIONABLE WEDDING.

WATSON—SMITH. Those who remember the bride’s mother as Miss Vuglar (sister of Mr T. P. Vuglar, of Paeroa) who married the Rev. A. F. Smith, and later left New Zealand, will be interested to read of the marriage of her daughter, which we clip from “ The Advertiser' of March 4th :—

“A wedding of much interest to residents in the Old Trafford district was solemnised at St. Bride’s Church, Old Ti afford (England), on Saturday last. The bride was Miss Francis Oldershaw Smith, L.R.A.M., A.R.M.C.M,, daughter of the Rev. and Mrs A. F. Smith, of St. Bride’s Rectory, Old Trafford, and the- bridegroom was Mr Ernest Sibbles Watson, B.Sc. (Tech.), of Achimota College, Gold Coast, West Africa, son of Mr and Mrs E. Watson, 13 Auburn Road, Old Trafford, and grandson of the late Rev. John Watson, M.A., for many years rector of St.’ Jude’s, Ancpats. MissSmith has been captain of the Girl Guides leader of the Church Aid Society recruits, and an active worker in. connection with practically every organisation in the parish. She was exceedingly popular, and was in great demand as a pianist and vocalist, being well known throughout the Old Trafford and Stretford districts. The bridegroom, who is now an assistant master at Achimota College, Accra, on the Gold Coast, was formerly closely connected with St. Bride’s Church for many years as sidesman, member of the Parochial Council, secretary of the Missionary Service League, etc. “The church was crowded for the ceremony, over one thousand people being present. The choir was in attendance, and the ceremony, which was performed by the bride’s father, assisted by the Rev. E. S. Somerville, was fully choral. Appropriate .music was played by Mr J. AV. Ogden. The bride was given away by Sir Lees Knowles, Bart.. C.V.-O.”
