SYDNEY SENSATION.

ALLEGED THEFT OF FUHS. N.Z. CARTOONIST CHARGED. Sydney artistic circles were startled last week by the news that George Finey, the New Zealand-born cartoonist, had appeared in the dock. Finey, who is one of Sydney’s bestknown figures, partly on account of liis eccentric attire and the brilliancy of his work—he is also one of the highest paid artists in Australia — was charged with entering a big city fur shop and stealing chokers and furs and other feminine Insures to the value of £1237. Together with John Keith Dening, aged 26, with whom he was charged, Finey was remanded. Bail was granted in sureties of £soo'. Finey created a sensation at the most notorious of the Sydney Artists’ Balls by appearing as an infant, replete with a safety-pin about a yard long. His cartoons are well known in New Zealand.
