PAEROA RUGBY UNION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

The weekly meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union Management Committee was held on Monday night), the chairman (Mr C, T. Mettam) presiding over the following: Messrs J. BiCrosby. H. M. Shand, C, H. Potter. J. Pinder, T. Royal, and R. Hodson (secretary). REGISTRATIONS. The names of V. A. Murphy and H. Stonell came up for registration and allotment. Mr Shand moved, and Mr Crosby .seconded., that the players be allotted to the West club. As an amendment Mr Pinder moved, seconded by Mr Royal, that they be allotted to the weakest team. After a lengthy discussion the amendment was cairied. It was moved by Mr Pinder that Murphy’s registration be accepted, and that he be allotted to the East seniors.' —Carried. The chairman moved that Stonell be allotted to the West seniors. This motion, which was seconded by Mr Pinder, evoked a protest from Mr Shand on the grounds of inconsistency in allotting players, and the chairman thereupon withdrew his motion. Further discussion ensued, followed by Mr Royall moving that Stonell be registered and allotted to Suburbs., This was seconded by Mr Pottei, and carried. FIXTURES. A letter was received from the Suburbs chib asking that the draw be altered so that instead of Suburbs having to play East at Paeroa on June 4. they be granted the bye given to the West team. After consideration it was resolved that the committee could not see its way to grant the application. PEACE CUP. On the motion of Mr Pinder, seconded by Mr Royal, it was decided to enter a challenge with the Thames Union for the Peace Cup, provided suitable dates could be arranged. THIRD GRADE. The secretary was authorised to arrange for a third-grade match between Paeroa School and AVest, to be played on Saturday next. GENERAL. The chairman was appointed the union’s delegate to confer with the Primary Schools Union on Saturday next. The gate receipts on Saturday last were : Paeroa, £3 16s ; Hikutaia, fils 6d ; Netherton, 10s. Accounts amounting to £3 8s 3d wore passed for payment.

MATCHES AT THAMES. SATURDAY’S BIRCH CUP TEAM. The following team will defend the Birch Cup at Thames on Saturday against Hauraki Plains : — G. Winder, F. Moran B. Harrison. A. Winder, T. Dufty, T. Bradley, H. Allely, E. Kelly, A. Lomas, G. Kinlock, H. Ensor, J. Strange, E. Hayward, A. ,O'Hara, R. Smith. Emergencies: Forwards, E. Brown, G. Pollock ; backs, A. Morrissey, S. G. McMahon. The Plains team will assemble at Ngatea to-morrow afternoon for practice and instruction. The junior teams of the Thames and Hauraki Plains unions will also meet to contest for the Johnston Cup on Saturday, the game to commence at I. p.m. on the No. 1 ground.
