FOOTBALL.

PAEROA RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The weekly committee meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held in Mr Bain’s Rooms on Monday evening, the following being present: Messrs C. T. Mettam (chairman), H. M. Shand, J. M. Crosby, J. PJnder, E. P. Fathers, and R. Hodson (secretary). CLEARANCE OF PLAYER. J. Lee, late of the Karangahake club, ajpplied for a clearance to play under the Waihi Rugby Union, he having moved to that district. The clearance was granted subject to the residential qualification being in order. REGISTRATIONS. The following registrations -were approved:— East: R. Smith, U. C. Smith, T. Richmond, J. Maloney, E. Johnson, and R. Thorp, seniors. West: J. Peke, senior. The registration of V. A. Murphy was left in abeyance until next meeting. THIRD GRADE. The secretary was instructed to try and arrange a match for the third grade players, who had not had a game for three weeks. GENERAL. On Mr Crosby’s motion it was decided to forward to the Thames Valley’ Referees’ Association the affiliation fee for the local association. The secretary’s action in arranging entertainment for the Waitakaruru team on its visit to Paeroa last Saturday was approved. The secretary reported that the Suburbs and East clubs had asked permission, to play outside matches, on the dates when they drew a bye. and it was decided to grant the requests providing the clubs concerned applied to the secretary in writing prior to tire dates of the matches. On the chairman’s motiop it was decided to grant the request of Miss Emmott for permission to erect a refreshment stall at the domain on Saturdays during the season. HAURAKI PLAINS NOTES. The judicial committee of the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union met on Monday evening, and after considering very carefully a protest entered by the Kerepeehi junior team concerning an attempt at goal after a try in the match against Turua, the committee unanimously decided that the referee’s decision that the kjek had failed be upheld.

The final matches of the first round in the inter-club Rugby* competition on the Hauraki Plains will be played on Saturday next. Ngatea will travel to Patetonga, Waitakaruru to Kerepeehi, and the two Turua junior teams will meet at Turua. The Turua seniors will have a bye, and h<jpe to arrange a game with an outside team.
