A sub-committec, comprising Crs. H. J. Hare. J. Pinder, and W. Turner, was set up at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council for the purpose of reporting on the street lighting question. Cr. Pinder was appointed convener. In the- course of his report to tne meeting of the Thames Hospital Board on Monday last Mr E. L. Walton stated that he had been advised that nearly half of the preserved eggs sent to the hospital from the district homes at Tararu were. bad. “It strikes me the homes superintendent knows no more about preserving eggs than he does about preserving pigs,” interjected Mr J. Lange.
