ACTIVITIES OF PLAINS BRANCHES

Members of the. Plunket Society on the Hauraki Plains are now actively engaged in raising funds for the puipose of providing a motor-car for. the Plunket nurse. It was agreed at a conference at Ke.repeehi recently that each of the four branches should endeavour to raise about £3O.

The Turua branch held a garden party at the residence ot Mr S. Bagmill some weeks ago.

On Wednesday evening last the Ngatea branch held a function in the Ngatea Hall which was attended by about 100 people. There was dancing, cards, games, aiid competitions. The dance music was played by Messrs Ludlow, King, and Coppins, and Air J. Neate w,as M.C. The euchre tournament was won by Mrs Barriball and Mr C. Molloy, the consolation prizes going to Mi's Vowles and Mr Barriball. Mr C. Bertelsen won a dartthrowing competition, and also a bullboard competition. Prizes for quoitthrowing were won by Miss Birkenhead and Mr G. Birkenhead and Miss E. Williams won the ladies’ bull-board competition. Mr J. Gcidkin and Miss Williams were tire lucky couple in the Monte Carlo waltz. After supper the large quantity of home-made cake was sold by auction.

The Kerepechi branch has arrangeil what promises to be an excellent concert for April 29. The newly formed Waitakaruiu branch, of which Mrs C. Parfitt L president and Mrs Trembath secretary, lias a large number of enthusiastic members, and has already raised £26, mostly by voluntary subscriptions. A social function was held last week at the residence of Mrs Donaldson, ('anal Road, and arrangementwore made at a' meeting on Thursday last for the holding of a social in th ■ Waitakaruru Hall some time during the next fortnight. A novel event at this function will be a competition for the most shapely ankles.
