MOTOR BUS CAPSIZES.
SKIDS ON CLAY ROAD. ESCAPE OF FOOTBALLERS. Kerepeehi footballers considered that they were fortunate in having fine weather for their match against Patetonga on Saturday last, but before the day was finished many of them thought themselves fortunate in getting home without injury. Heavy rain commenced to fall during the afternoon, making the hard clay roads very slippery, and while Mr J. H. Nicholson’s ’bus was returning along the Torehape road the front wheels skidded and one. dropped over the edge of the clay formation, with the result that the vehicle rolled over on to its side. No one was injured and the ’bus was not damaged. In a few minutes it was lifted on to its wheels again, but several of the passengers chose to stand on the runningboar.ds for the remainder of the journey. Along the Puhanga Canal road the ’bus skidded so frequently that almost all the passengers considered it safer to walk in the rain. The. cars and other buses which had chains for their wheels made the trip without mishap.
