THAMES HOSPITAL.

VALUATION OF LOCAL BODIES. INCREASE IN PLAINS COUNTY, At the last meeting of the Thames Hospital Bo.ard a letter was received from the Valuer-General advising the following rateable value of each contributory local authority in the Thames Hospital District for the purpose of the 1927-28 levy :— Thames Borough, £820,575 ; Paeroa Borough, £371,310 ; Ohinemuri County, £666,317; Thames County, £570,824; Hauraki Plains County, £2,140,934. Total, £4,569,960. In reply to the chairman (Mr W. E. Hale) Mr Walton said that the Plains valuation had gbne up nearly £6OO-, 000. The secretary (Mr G. Tonge) said that the increase was approximately £513,937 in the total valuation. Mr Walton remarked that the Plains, as usual, had to suffer.

Mr Brenan said that there was ar apparent increase in production and prosperity. The letter was received.
