SERIOUS POSITION CREATED.

MINISTER RECEIA r ES DEPUTATION

Included in the deputations which waited on the Hon. K. S. AVilliaips, Minister of Public AVorks, at Paeroa on Monday night was one from the (Ohinemuri County Council. The chairman (Cr. H. M. Corbett) explained that erosion was taking place nt Ko.mata Creek on the eastern side of the main Paeroa-Thames road at Koniata. Damage was being done to private property, and the council was afraid of the damage which might occur in the future. By means of a plan Cr. F. C. Hubbard explained that the matter affected the county as greatly as it did the settlers. The position as it stood at present was stated at length.

Mr C. J. McKenzie, assistant chief engineer, Public AVorks Department; said that the matter might be considered by the Main Highways Board. Cr. Hubbard said that the council was justified in bringing the matter forward, because it was believed that a serious danger existed.
