AN ALARM PARADE.

girl guides AND boy SCOUTS.

QUICK MUSTER AT DOMAIN

On Friday night the local Boy Scouts and Girl Guides held an alarm parade for the purpose of testing their efficiency and ability in turning out quickly should their services be required. No warning was ghe,n that the parade was to be held on that night, and the fact that 31 scouts and 13 guides, correctly dressed ami fully equipped, assembled at the domain within half an hour of the alarm being sounded speaks well for their enthusiasm and training. In all, eight buglers were stationed in various parts of the borough, and when the first bugler got the word he sounded the alarm, which was quickly heard and immediately taken up by the other buglers at their homes, and later at the rallying-point in the domain.

Tim scouts living close to the domain were at an advantage, and about 20 lads were formed up within twelve minutes of the alarm fd-st sounding. Two boys came up from the Puke, and despite the distance they had to travel they were by no means the last to arrive at the domain.

At the, end of the half-hour the scouts were addressed by their scoutmaster (Mr D. A. Vincent) and the girl guides by their captain (Miss Emmott). The troops we.ro congratulated on the prompt manner in which they turned out,, and the object of the parade was explainer. After an exchange of cheers they were dismissed.
