CRICKET.

PRIMARY SCHOOL MATCHES. PLAY DURING THE WEEK. On Wednesday afternoon, conveyed by Messrs Arnold and Malcolm’s cars, which were placed at the disposal of the team, the following boys journeyed to Te Aroha: Edwards (capt.), Mayo (vice-capt.), Arnold, M. Curtis, Bardsley, Nicholls, Barclay, Findlay, Hamilton, Roberts, Shand, F. Williams (emergency). As the light was failing rapidly, Te Aroha Primary declared with 59 runs in the second innings and two wickets still standing. During Paeroa’s. second innings ’the setting sun broke the clouds and gave a good light for a most exciting finish with Paeroa three runs behind. One of the Paeroa boys first received a hasty smack on the forearm with a full-pitched ball, and was later knocked put by a hard ball in the eye. After a lapse of only five minutes he returned to his w'icket and was cheered to the echo by Te Aroha.

Mr Burton, the headmaster, very thoughtfully had arrangements fou afternoon tea made. The boys enjoyed themselves immensely, and hope to meet Te Aroha on our own domain grounds next Wednesday at 3 p.m.
