NIGHT-LETTER MAIL.
INSTITUTION BY DEPARTMENT. A REQUEST GRANTED. The request pf the Thames, Paeroa, and Te Aroha Chambers of Commerce for the institution of a night letter mail service from Auckland on a train arriving at Thames at 2.15 a.m. has been granted, and will operate when the necessary lockers are installed at the chief stations en route. This mail will close at Auckland at 5.30 p.m. Tlie train which leaves Thames on the return journey to Hamilton at 3 a.m. will not however, carry mails from Thames to Auckland. The new service will include the*Te Aroha, Paeroa, Waihi, and Thames stations.
This information, which was communicated .to the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce by the chief postmaster, Thames, yesterday, is the outcome/ of the conference of the varteUßk
chambers of commerce held at Paeroa on March 2.
