HOSPITAL REPORTS.
• THE THAMES INSTITUTIONS. PROGRESS DURING FEBRUARY. The following reports were, submitted to, last Monday’s meeting of the Thames Hospital Board and approved : PATETONGA NURSE. The Patetonga district nurse (Mrs McNamara) reported making 13 visits, for which £1 14s had been paid in fees. RESIDENT SURGEON. The resident surgeon (Dr. W. Sowerby) reported t,hat 83 patients had been treated during the month, in addition to 64 occupying beds at the last return, of whom 84 had been discharged, leaving 70 under treatment at date. There had been 31 operations, and three deaths. COAL CONSUMPTION. The engineer reported a coal consumption of 26 tons Bcwt for the month. DISTRICT HOMES. The Tararu District Homes superintendent (Mr W. D. Gilmore) reported one discharge out of 16 patients. DISTRICT NURSE. District Nurse K. M. Jarrett advised 66 attendances to natives and five to Europeans, for which 10s had. been received in 'fees. Thirteen pas had been visited and three lectures delivered. MATERNITY ANNEXE. Matron A. M. Ansenne reported six births at .the maternity annexe. An outing given by members of the Auckland Automobile Association on January 22 had been much appreciated. In connection with the Patetonga district Mr Danby mentioned that during the year 1926, 162 patients had been treated for a return of £5O. Apart from the subsidy, there was an excess of expenditure over all receipts totalling £97. Mrrtlale contended that in view the scattered nature of the district, and other conditions, this was not surprising.
