CROSSWORD PUZZLE.
'CLAIM FOR FIRST PRIZE. QUEEN COMMITTEE TO PAY. Mr Page, S.M., gave reserved judgment at. Wellington last yzeek in a case where Andrew St. George Hickson claimed £l5 from the Artillery Queen Committee as the first prize in a crossword puzzle. At the hearing it was stated that the plaintiffs solution was more nearly correct. He had been so advised,, and that he was entitled to the third prize, 10s, although he claimed the first prize. The committee ruled that lie was debarred, from claiming the first prize, as his solution was not entirely correct. The committee also claimed that the decision be final. Mr Page ruled, against the committee, pointing omt inter alia that plaintiff must ah any rate have been, entitled to the second prize, not the third. He gave judgment for the full amount claimed, the first prize.
