E. Brenan, J.P., with being vagrants and failing to comply with the terms of their’probation.
Constable H. Neary stated that the two girls had been charged with vagrancy before an Auckland magistrate some months ago and had been placed c,ii probation for three years, the terms requiring them to remain in the Salvation Army Home. On February 18 last the two girls escaped, and arrived in Paeroa about a week ago. Acting on information received, he arrested the girls on Friday night. They had no money, and only a small attache case between them.
On the application of the police both defendants were remanded to appear at Auckland to-morrow.
