BOROUGH WORKS.
BUSY PROGRAMME FOR MONTH. DRAINAGE AND METALLING. The following programme of work to be undertaken by the Paeroa Borough Council’s workmen during the ensuing month was proposed and au; thorised at the council meeting on Thursday- night last: — Completion o’f sewer to Railway Settlement; completion of repairs to Belmont Road in bitumen ; metalling George and Dearie Streets and upper Flora Street, part of Willoughby Street, and continuation of King Street; completion of raised footpath in William Street; completion of Arney Street from Willoughby Street to commencement o'f MH ; cleaning °ut Aorangi Road drain ; metal in front of Mr J. P. Findlay’s residence, Victoria Street; metal in front of Commercial Hotel, Arney Street; repairs to in Puke Road; metal entrance to Andrews Street, etc.; patching Rye Larfe and Prospect Terrace, and small amount on some other roads ; cutting grass on certain footpaths where -most necessary; formation in Norwood Road. Cr. Edwards said it was gratifying to know that the carrying out of the essential maintenance work was being steadily pursued. Cr. F. E. Flatt agreed, and said that he thought the programme was rather, an ambitious one for one month. He did not think it would be possible to carry it through in the time allotted. . The Mayor (Mr W, Marshall) said that it should be possible witn the staff that was working at the present time.
