CLEANING OF STREETS.
LTo the Editor.} Sir,—l noticed in the "Gazette ’ some time ago a request ’from a resident in Station Road for the Borough Council to cut the blackberries and hedges on to® roadside. Your correspondent should know that the Marcn races will soon be here, and the council will see that important people wno are in the town for five minutes, will iiave the benefit of a good road at the expense of permanent ratepayers wno live on half-finished streets. One street has been hopefully metalled at ench end and left in the middle, while another has been ploughed up and so far seems to have been left for the winter weather to finish off. I notice William Street footpath has had several loads of earth dumped upon it, for the people to level off with their feet. It is to be hoped that the incoming council will see that jobs are finished once they are started. RATEPAYER.
