WAIHI COMPANY’S DECISION.

Recently the Waihi Goldmining Company suggested that the battery at Waikino should be run 'for a further eight hours weekly to permit of t.lie treatment of an increased amount of ore. The battery workers at Waikino approved of the suggestion, which provides for overtime rates to those engaged on the extra shift, which will be worked from 12 noon to 8 p.m. Saturdays. On Tuesday night the Ohinemuri Mines and Batteries Employees’ Unon confirmed the resolution passed by the Waikino branch. It is anticipated that the new arrangement will permit ■ f approximately 1000 tons more ore being treated than at present, and it is also expected to ensure work 'for miners who are at present temporarily unemployed.
