ATLANTIC BLIZZARD.

DESTRUCTION AFTER GALE. DEATHS AND ISOLATION. NEW YORK, February 2t. A blizzard swept the Atlantic seaboard at a vol city o,f 70 miles an hour. The total death-roll is not yet known. Experts declare the storm to be one o'f the worst coastal storms experienced in 25 years.

Tremendous tides, driven by the wind, swept over seaside residences in the States of New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts, and caused nine deaths. Famines were left homeless, and the lives of hundreds of people were endangered. Huge seas broke over bulkheads and jetties, carried off bungalows and cottages, and isolated entire communities from immediate aid.

Eight coastguardsmen were drowned near Boston and their cutter was ■’mashed into fragments.

The storm extended over the Eastern coast. It was accompanied by hail, snow, and sleet. The traffic in several cities was dislocated and many accidents occurred. Ships were delayed Ifor from <2 to 24 hours.

The t'des drove half a mile into the streets of some seaside towns and cities, including the outlying suburbs of New York.
