WAIKATO MARKET REPORT.
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reports : —
Beef.—There is no improvement in tlie market, with plenty of prime ox ami cow and heifer beef offering, both in tlie markets and privately. Fat Sheep.—The markets show a tendency to harden both for ewe and wether mutton. Fat lambs are also meeting with competition in the markets at prices slightly better than export prices.
Store Sheep.-—We have held several sheep fairs this month, with a good demand for all classes, especially young breeding ewes, which are meeting w'th strong competition. Prices in most cases are not quite equal t > last season. Rams. —There was a str ng demand at the fair'for Southdowns a fair demand f<tr Shiopshires, Engbs.i, and Border Leicester*, and with firn exception of a few extra go-’d Remnev* Uiis breed was very dull of sale. Store Cattle. —Very few store cattle have been yarded, most :>l the yardings consisting of fat, fresh-condi-tioned, and stoire cows. There is a good inquiry for choice Jersey-cross in-calf heifers. Pigs. -Stores are easier, especial!'weaners. Baconers and porkers are still making about 'D/id per lb. Horse*. —The market, is still very quiet. We quote : Bullock*, prime extra heavy £lO Ills t* £ll, medium £8 10s to £9; cews, prime £5 15s to £0 10s, medium £5 to £5 ss, unfinished £3 to £3 10s : heifers, prime £0 15s to £7 ss; steers, forward 4-year £7 5s to £7 15s, 3-year stores £5 10s to £6 ss, good 2•year £4 5s to £5, good 18-montihs steers £3 to £3 5s ; good 18-months Jersey heifers in calf £5 10s to £6 10* ; good fresh empty cows £3 10s to £4 : good store cows 30s t* £2.
Sheep : We’thei's, prime shorn heavy 23s 6d to 255, medium 22s to 22s 6d ; ewes, prime shorn 14s 6d to 15s 6d ; 4- shorn store wethers 21s to 235, 2-tontih 18s to 20s 6d ; breedingewes, 4,6, and 8-tooth 21s to 22s 6d, 5- 17s to 18s Gil, aged 10's to 12s, 2-tooth 22s to 255, 4-tooth 23s to 25s ; lambs, prime fat 23s to 24s 6d, fat 20s t i 21s 6d, best woolly rape lambs 15s o 16s, good woolly store lambs 13s 6cl to 14s, small 10s 6d to Ils 6d, best shorn rape lambs 14s 6d to I's* 6d, good store shorn lambs 12s 6d t,o 14s, small 9s to 10s 6d ; ranis, One shear stud Southdowns 10 to 17 gns, South downs 6% to 10 gns., Shropshire* 3 to 4% gns, Border S l '* to 4% gns, English Lei festers 1% to 5 gns, Romney (best,) flock 3% to 8 gns. stud Romneys 10 to 16 gns, one and 2-sihear Romney flock rams., 2 to 4 gns aged rams 1. to 1% gns.
