SCHOOL DENTAL CLINIC.

, HELP OF BOROUGH COUNCIL.

COMMITTEE TO ERECT BUILDING

Realising the interest the Paeroa Borough Council was taking in the establishment of a schcool dental clinic, the Paeroa District High School Committee forwarded the following resolution to Thursday night s meeting of the council for endorsement :—

“That, subject to the endorsement of the Paeroa Borough Council, this committee undertakes to erect a onechair dental clinic according to plans and specifications and to the satisfaction <f the Education Boards architect, provided the Government subsidy of £lBO is available, and that the building can be proceeded with immediately.”

The Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) explained that the proposal was progressing favourably. The committee, was arranging to erect the building by voluntary labour, and was satisfied that the building could be completed provided the subsidy was forthcoming. The committee was not a corporate body, and it desired the council to put its weight behind the proposal. There was no chance of the council being involved in a serious liability, and if a resolution was carried it would simplify matters, for the committee and assist it to carry out a laudable object. *

Cr. F. El Flatt said-he thought it was reasonable to help th© committee in its endeavours. The work was for the benefit of fellow-townspeople, and as such deserved to be encouraged. He moved that the request be granted. Cr. H. J. Hare seconded.

Crs. Brenan, Edwards, and Pinder also spoke in favour of the work and the desirable object of the committee’s endeavours.
