LICENSING COMMITTEE.

ADJOURNED ANNUAL MEETING. LICENSE FOR ROYAL MAIL. The adjourned annual meeting of the Ohinemuri Licensing Committee was held at the Courthouse, Paeroa, at noon to-day, Mr W. J- Towers presiding over Messrs W. Marshall, P. h. Brenan, W. M. Wallnutt, and F. W. Walters. The main business before the meeting was the application by Mrs C. V. Crosby for a license for the premises known as the Royal Mail Hotel, Paeroa. Mr A. T. Jones appeared 'for the applicant. Mr Jones stated that the committee had given an indication that in the event of premises being erected according to the plans and specifications submitted on June 18 last the Committee would favourably consider an application for a license. Thebuilding was now completed, and formal application was made for the license. The chairman intimated that the Health Inspector had reported very favourably on the premises. On behaf of. the Police Senior-Ser-geant D. A. Madean reported that the interior of the hotel was very nice, and met with the approval of the police. There was still a good deal of, work to be done outside, however, bet re. the requirements of the Act were fully complied with. Mr Jones explained that arrangements had been made for the removal of the earth in the yard. Some of t,he bricks were required to complete tlife 'fence, but an effort was being made to complete everything at the earliest possible moment. ? The chairman staled that the majority of. the members were in favour of the license being granted. Provided than an undertaking was given that within 21 days from date tee work was completed to the satisfaction of the police a. license would be granted forthwith. Mr Jones gave /he required assurance that the work would be. completed within the prescribed time.
