NETHERTON ROADS WORK
HIKUTAIA QUARRY TO CLOSE. RECOMMENDATIONS TO COUNCIL. The Works. Committee of the H»rtraki Plains County Council met last week and decided to inspect the Netherton loan works and the quarry before deciding whether the road work should continue in the absence of subsidy advances. ' After the inspection was made the committee resumed its meeting at the residence ol’ Cr. J. A. R°id, Ne. fherton, and it was decided that the council be recommended to* close the Hikutaia. quarry as soon as 6he requirements of metal for. thqi Nethertan loan works, about 500 yards, were completed, unless metal could be sold as produced. The engineer was authorised to investigate thq question of the sale cf metal and report to the council on February 10.
